HMS Endeavour
A modelling friend of mine had this model in his "stash" and asked me to build it for him as he was now into gliders and control line planes.
The first
stage after assembling the frames to the keel is to fit the plywood decks upon
which the deck planks will be laid. After gluing all the deck planks, “nails”
were fitted which consisted of 0.6mm brass wire installed into holes drilled
into the plank ends.
The finished
model will be mounted on pillars on a baseboard so 6mm threaded inserts were
fitted to the keel to allow for 6mm machine screws to be inserted from
underneath the baseboard, through the pillars and into the keel.
The first
planking commenced on the hull.
First planking finished.
This is the
picture on the box.
I did not
think that the finished hull was appealing enough so I decided to modify the
hull to the scheme of a later version of the kit that a friend of mine built.
Hull
modified.
Painted.
Rudder assembly.
The bowsprit
was now assembled.
All the
deadeyes were fitted to the chainplates and channels and the necessary blocks,
eyebolts and cleats fitted to the deck.
This completes the hull and deck stage.
The next stage is the construction of the
masts.
Mike this is truly amazing.
